blumshapiro, the largest regional business advisory firm based in New England, with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, has announced the appointment of a new partner, John Toscano, CPA.

As a partner, John will be participating in the leadership of blum’s Education Practice.  He has more than 28 years of experience, primarily focused on serving educational institutions of all types and providing specific expertise on endowment-related matters.

Toscano’s years of experience include providing accounting, auditing, tax and advisory services to clients in various industries, comprising education, not-for-profit, construction and manufacturing.  In addition, Toscano has given keynote speeches at many education industry events for private boarding and day schools.  His professional accomplishments have been recognized with a Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award.

Toscano’s professional and industry affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Business Officers Association, Connecticut Association of Independent Schools, Association of Independent Schools of New England, Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers and New York State Association of Independent Schools.

Toscano is very active in community endeavors, including current and past volunteer positions with the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Multiple Sclerosis Society – CT Chapter and Capital Workforce Partners.

He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting.

Toscano resides in Cheshire, Connecticut.
