Part of Riverfront Recapture, Charter Oak Landing is just south of Hartford’s Downtown and is a secret spot to cool off during this summer heat. Being able to dip your toes into the Connecticut River is one of the ways Hartford’s riverfront provides relief from the humidity. That, and a cool breeze, the shade of some trees and a spot to watch the world go by.

The landing has been described as the perfect place to take a walk along the river walkway, with scenic views of the Hartford skyline and the CT river, and a nice picnic area.

Are you a runner? The paved and lighted walkways make Charter Oak Landing great for training. Start at Riverfront Plaza and loop around Riverside Park, Great River Park to Charter Oak Landing.

There is wildlife as well –  nesting eagles, herons, and other wildlife, as well as a pedestrian walkway to Great River Park.

It is served by CTtransit, Route 59 using the Huyshope Avenue and Wawarme Avenue stop, then walk to GPS 50 Reserve Road, Hartford.
