FHI Studio acquires To Design, LLC New England/Mid-Atlantic planning and engineering firm expands design services HARTFORD, CT (March 7, 2022) – FHI Studio, a Hartford-based transportation, environmental, and community planning firm with offices in New York City and Greater Philadelphia, is pleased to announce the acquisition of To Design, LLC, a landscape architecture company in New Britain, CT.
Susan VanBenschoten, PE, President and CEO of FHI, said, “We are so excited about the opportunity to expand our growing design practice to offer landscape architecture. The ability to offer licensed landscape architecture design services will greatly complement our conceptual planning and placemaking consulting services. These services will allow FHI Studio to enhance our community and land planning services and complement our conceptual design in the areas of active transportation and complete streets. We are thrilled to be bringing onto the FHI Studio team the established, well-respected professionals from To Design.”

FHI Studio was founded in 1987 in Hartford and has grown significantly over the past 35 years both in geographic reach and range of consulting services offered. FHI currently provides comprehensive planning consulting services throughout New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and south into the mid-Atlantic and South-East region.
This acquisition is effective immediately. FHI Studio welcomes five new staff who will work out of FHI Studio’s Hartford office.
