$2,500 Contribution Builds On DoorDash’s Commitment in Connecticut Communities to Fight Food Insecurity

HARTFORD, Conn. (November 30, 2021) Hands On Hartford today announced that it has received a $2,500 donation from DoorDash through the company’s Community Credits program, which provides nonprofit organizations with DoorDash gift cards to help them empower the communities that they serve.

Hands On Hartford strengthens the Hartford community by serving its most economically challenged residents in the areas of food, housing, and health. Its mission is to work in partnership with others to strengthen community in Hartford by responding faithfully to people in need through programs that change lives and renew human possibility.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on individuals and families across the Hartford community, creating a significant need for food and other support services,” said Kate Shafer, Hands On Hartford Development Director. “The generous support from DoorDash has provided great relief for some of our clients and has helped us better serve those struggling during these challenging times.”

Launched in early 2021, DoorDash’s Community Credits program has supported more than 150 nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and Canada through more than $4 million in donations.

“DoorDash’s mission is to empower local economies, and we’re proud to help expand access to food and other essential goods for people across Connecticut,” said Christina Kennedy, Government Relations Lead-New England. “The programs provided by organizations like Hands On Hartford are crucial to making a difference in the lives of families across the capital city, and we are honored to contribute to their important work.”

The Hands On Hartford Community Credits contribution is part of DoorDash’s ongoing commitment to empower Connecticut communities. In January 2021, DoorDash donated $500,000 to the Connecticut Restaurant Association’s Relief Fund as part of a partnership under the Main Street Strong program.
