Harc Welcomes Gregory Calnen, Hartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs (HYPE) Member And Former HYPE Community Involvement Vice Chair Who Has Big Ideas And Innovative Plans For Social Enterprise And Upgraded Technology

August 19, 2020 (Hartford, CT) – Harc has announced its Board of Directors slate through 2021 with Gregory Calnen as the new Chairman, and Michael Andreini as a new member. The current Chair, Najib Habesch, will step down from the leadership position but will remain on the Board of Directors. Harc’s Board will reconvene in September. Calnen is currently the Senior Account Manager at ZAG Interactive in Glastonbury. He is a long time Harc supporter and the third generation of his family to be involved with the organization. Beginning in 2011, Calnen began chairing the fundraising committee for Harc’s annual Walk & Roll event. In 2016, he joined the Board of Directors, serving as the Public Policy & Advocacy Vice-Chair. “I am truly honored to be joining such a long line of incredible leaders as Chair of the Board. It is very humbling to continue my family’s tradition of providing opportunities to our participants to live lives with dignity, quality, and inclusion,” said Calnen. “People who are encouraged are capable of great things, and that’s what I will look to carry on during my tenure.” Andreini is the COO of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in Norwalk. He is an experienced healthcare industry executive having worked across the nonprofit, biopharma, and management consulting sectors. His sister, Jordan, is a long-time participant at Harc and works for its social enterprise, SockStarz. “Harc has been such an important and longstanding resource for Jordan and my family,” said Andreini. “I am very humbled by this opportunity to join the board and hope that my skill set can play a significant role in helping Harc fulfill its mission and achieve its strategic objectives.” The Board envisions Harc providing new, creative opportunities for revenue and employment at its social enterprise, SockStarz. Harc also intends to foster new approaches to technical integrations that enable the organization to adapt quickly to unforeseen events. Calnen believes that building on the positive changes in the organization, coupled with a dedicated staff and Board of Directors, that Harc will accomplish these goals.
