Embracing Our Environment: Integrating the Natural World with the Arts Series

(West Hartford, CT – March 16, 2022 ) “Embracing Our Environment: Integrating the Natural World with the Arts,” made possible by support from the University of Saint Joseph’s National Endowment of the Humanities and Art Fund, presents the next event in its series: Medicinal Plants in Current Medicines presented by Dr. Dayne Laskey, Associate Professor of Pharmacy.

This event will be on March 21, 2022, from 2-3 p.m. ET and will be presented virtually.  Registration is required for this event.

This presentation will talk about the history of medicinal plant use and will discuss some examples of plants used in current medicine.

Two thirds of medications on the pharmacy shelf have their “roots” in the natural world. The USJ medicine garden was founded in 2014 to highlight these important sources of modern medicines. The garden has grown from 12 to over 40 species. Join garden founder/director Dr. Laskey to learn the history of these plants and how their components are being used today.
