United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and Pratt & Whitney have partnered to distribute 200,000 single-use adult face masks for residentstatewide through Connecticut United Ways.  

“United Way is proud to partner with Pratt & Whitney to help people stay healthy as we continue to navigate COVID-19,” said Paula S. Gilberto, President and CEO, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. “This donation is just one way United Way partners with companies in support of local children and families. We’re grateful to Pratt & Whitney for this donation. 

The facemasks will help to minimize the further spread of COVID-19 within local communities. The Town of East Hartford received 8,000 facemasks through its partnership with United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. 

“On behalf of the Town of East Hartford, we are incredibly grateful to be the recipient of such a generous donation of facemasks,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc. “East Hartford is proud to have community partners like United Way and Pratt Whitney, and their continued and ongoing support is appreciated and greatly valued. This donation will be used to help slow the spread of COVID-19 within our communities and allow us to continue the work of delivering critical services through these challenging times.” 

Since April 2020, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut has distributed more than 320,000 face masks (reusable and single useto organizations statewide by coordinating donations from companies, civic organizations and volunteers. Those interested in making a donation should contact Phil Blonski, Senior Manager, Community Engagement, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, at pblonski@unitedwayinc.org or 860-493-1132. Instructions on making homemade cloth masks can be found at unitedwayinc.org/donate-masks/.
