Why Hartford?
JENNIFER VONKUMMER: I was born and raised in the Hartford Region and I’ve never lived anywhere else. From local coffee shops to museums, everything I need is here in Hartford.
What impact do you hope to make in the Hartford Region through the MHA?
JENNIFER: I do a lot of behind-the-scenes work, so the impact I make is honestly through our team. When we experience a “win”—whether it’s a successfully attended event or earning the trust of a new investor—I’m happy to have provided support.
What makes Hartford unique?
JENNIFER: Working on Pratt Street, one of the things I enjoy most about Hartford is the access to beautiful Bushnell Park. I enjoy walking through the park and checking out local food trucks. One of my favorites is Woody’s. When I’m downtown, I also love Juiced Up juice bar.
I’m a huge coffee drinker, so I’m happy we have so many great coffee shops to explore in the region including Berkins Blend in Glastonbury and Silk City in Manchester, where I ran into a colleague one weekend.
How do we tell the story of Hartford?
JENNIFER: We tell our story through feature stories about our local investors, sharing about how they’re helping our region economically. We can also tell our story by shopping locally and supporting our small businesses.
