Recognizing Greater Hartford’s Thriving Start-ups/small businesses, the “HYPE Entrepreneurship Awards” have been instituted to engage and recognize Hartford’s most budding and enterprising ventures run by our young business women and men. The overriding theme on which nominees are evaluated is their overall contribution to the Greater Hartford Region. Examples of ways that businesses contribute include innovation, creating employment and/or investing opportunities, encouraging social interactions and generating buzz around Hartford as an exciting place to live and work. Any current HYPE member is eligible to nominate their business venture for one of the three following awards. Each of the three award winners will receive a cash prize of $1,000, a trophy, and a certificate. All participating businesses will benefit from the publicity via the Awards Event, the HYPE website, and potential media coverage.
- CCAT Science & Technology Award: Within the start-up world, businesses centered around science and technology capture the imagination of the public, not to mention the attention of the venture capitalists. This award recognizes businesses focused on those industries.
- NERAC Business Excellence Award: Companies grow and evolve over time, gradually refining their products or services as well as their target markets. This award recognizes businesses of any age, and in any industry, that have proven themselves in the market.
- Goodwin College Business Launch Award: Launching a new business takes a special kind of entrepreneur, one who can juggle all aspects of building and operating the young company. This award recognizes businesses that have been launched since January 1, 2008.
HYPE members may become part of the Entrepreneurs Network and be spotlighted during the networking portion of the event by submitting their information on the HYPE Entrepreneurs Network . Service providers whose products and services are specifically designed for start-up ventures and small business are also eligible to be featured at the event.
