Hartford has made tremendous strides in becoming a leader in the aerospace sector. The Region is home to “Aerospace Alley™” an extensive network of thousands of advanced manufacturing firms that draw from the fifth most productive workforce in the country. There’s also the $75 million Connecticut Manufacturing Innovation Fund that, among other things, encourages R&D and funds workforce training and upskill opportunities.

Connecticut is an advanced manufacturing epicenter. It is home to nearly 4,500 manufacturing operations, with almost 2,000 centered in the Hartford Region. The industry is responsible for 10.74% of our gross state product and 16% of GRP for Hartford, along with 89% of Connecticut’s exports that represent $16 billion worth of goods annually. Otis Elevator, Pegasus Manufacturing, and Stanley Black and Decker lead the downstream metal manufacturing sector in the Hartford Region, generating $2.3 billion for the local economy and impacting 15,656 jobs.
