American Eagle Financial Credit Union COO Teresa Knox Selected as A New England Women in Banking Honoree

Teresa Knox,  Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of American Eagle Financial Credit Union (AEFCU) has been selected as a 2020 New England Women in Banking honoree by Banking New England magazine.

The acknowledgment, according to the publication, honors “the growing impact that women are having on the banking industry” and the “many trailblazers who are leading the way for others in this once male-dominated area.”

“Teresa’s impact on American Eagle’s operations, productivity, and community involvement has been extraordinary,” said Dean Marchessault, president and chief executive officer of American Eagle Financial Credit Union.  “Her commitment to her profession, co-workers, and community has made American Eagle a better business and more forward-thinking institution.”

Knox was acknowledged by Banking New England for the many initiatives she has led in her 17-year career at American Eagle that now define the credit union.  She has spearheaded the opening of 10 branches, including American Eagle’s first branch office in New Haven County.  American Eagle, with 18 branches today, now serves 155,000 members in Hartford, Middlesex, New Haven, and Tolland counties in Connecticut and Hampden County in Massachusetts.

Knox was also cited for leading the 85-year-old institution’s entry into a new age in 2018 with the opening of American Eagle’s new Financial Center, located in a 100,000-square-feet office space in East Hartford, Connecticut.  Today, the American Eagle Financial Center is a state-of-the-art landmark on the banks of the Connecticut River.

The publication also recognized Knox for bringing her business excellence to many community endeavors.  She is a board member of the Credit Unions Building Financial Independence, a nonprofit foundation of the Credit Union League of Connecticut dedicated to building economic capacity, community impact, and financial inclusion.  She also participates in Financial Reality Fairs, a hands-on experience in which students are taught how to live within monthly salaries based on their chosen careers.  The reality fairs have reached more than 34,000 Connecticut high school students, to date.  Also, Knox serves as a volunteer teaching financial literacy to students at the Pathways Academy of Technology & Design in East Hartford.

Knox joined American Eagle in 2003.  She is a resident of Longmeadow, Mass.
