Chrysalis Center’s Announces 7th Annual “Empty Bowls” Event
to Help Increase Hunger Awareness in Connecticut

WFSB Channel 3 Helps Spread Awareness

Hartford – Chrysalis Center is pleased to announce WFSB Channel 3 will be joining them for its Annual “Empty Bowls” event on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. onsite at the Chrysalis Center’s  TCC (Training & Conference Center), 255 Homestead Avenue in Hartford.

For a donation of $20 ($5 for children under 12), guests attending the event will enjoy a delicious bowl of soup, salad, homemade bread and dessert prepared by Chrysalis Center’s La Cocina culinary arts training program. All proceeds raised from Empty Bowls will support Freshplace, Chrysalis Center’s innovative fresh food pantry, which provides fresh food and case management services for 100 families living in Hartford.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots initiative focused on combating hunger. Chrysalis Center supports the initiative by bringing awareness to the issue of hunger facing our neighbors throughout the state, particularly those living in the “Promise Zone”, the federally recognized neighborhoods in Greater Hartford where nearly 50% of the residents live at or below the poverty line.

Channel 3 reporters will be on hand to serve soup to guests, and each guest will leave with a handcrafted bowl, donated by local artisans. The bowl serves as a reminder of hunger in our community and throughout the world.

This family friendly event is open to the public. Advance registration is required, and tickets can be purchased online at chrysaliscenterct.org/events.
