Doctors, nurses, and other health care providers are working tirelessly to help protect and treat our family, neighbors, and friends during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. ConnectiCare shares a few ways you can support them.

Stay home and practice social distancing. It’s one of the best ways to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Send messages of gratitude and support. Reach out to the health care workers in your life. Recognizing their bravery and sacrifices may help lift their spirits. You can also share messages of thanks and gratitude on social media using the hashtag #SupportHealthcareHeroes.

Hearts for health care workers. Have you noticed anything different around your neighborhood? People are putting red hearts on their doors or windows to show appreciation as health care professionals travel to and from work.

Deliver essentials. Many health care workers are working odd hours and long shifts. This could make it difficult for them to shop for food and supplies. If you are healthy and able, ask your local friends and family in the health care industry if you can help deliver essential items to their homes.

Send meals. Meal prep is likely the last thing on the minds of these dedicated workers. If you can safely do so, offer to cook and deliver meals. You can also donate to organizations that are sending meals to emergency rooms in your community.

Donate blood. Blood donations are essential to community health. The American Red Cross needs blood and platelet donors to maintain a sufficient blood supply during the pandemic. Healthy individuals are encouraged to volunteer. Schedule an appointment to find an available location near you.
