We invite you to join us for The Amistad Center’s 32nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford. This is Greater Hartford’s premier and longest running Juneteenth event commemorating freedom, history and culture.
Our theme for 2023 is HARTford & SOUL and will feature an evening of local art, music, dance and culturally inspired cuisine. At the Celebration, we will be honored to present the 2023 Spirit of Juneteenth awards to renowned jazz saxophonist, Jimmy Greene and activist and founder of The Ana Grace Project, Nelba Marquez-Greene in recognition of their enormous contributions to our community. We will also honor Sanford Biggers an award-winning, international multimedia visual artist and sculptor whose work explores often-overlooked cultural and political narratives from American history. All three of our honorees have had profound impact on our culture and country.
Proceeds benefit The Amistad Center’s education programs, art exhibitions, cultural experiences and collection care.
