Former UConn and current WNBA star Katie Lou Samuelson named local spokesperson for campaign.
NEW HAVEN Conn., December 4, 2020 – KeyBank and WNBA Dallas Wings player Katie Lou Samuelson are proud to partner to launch the KeyBank Assists Campaign. The campaign is focused on supporting small businesses, families, and food banks throughout our local community at a time when they need this support perhaps more than ever.
Samuelson, a former UConn Women’s basketball athlete is proud to reconnect with Husky fans as KeyBank’s official local influencer for the Connecticut and Massachusetts market. In exchange for her support, KeyBank will make a $5,000 donation to Bring Change to Mind, a nonprofit that focuses on mental health, selected by Samuelson. In addition, KeyBank will make a total of $12,500 in contributions to Foodshare and Food Bank of Western Massachusetts for holiday meals to those in our community who are food insecure.
Part of the campaign’s support to local small businesses will feature gift card giveaways in which KeyBank will purchase $2,500 in gift cards from five women- and minority-owned small businesses in KeyBank’s footprint for a ‘random act of kindness’ giveaway, or consumer surprise and delight. Along with this act, a QR code will be provided to allow the recipients of the gift cards to ‘pay it forward’ if they wish. This QR code will direct people to a microsite where they can choose to make a donation of their own to benefit Foodshare or Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
