What is Polaris?
Leadership Greater Hartford’s (LGH) Annual Polaris Awards is an inspiring and celebratory evening that honors exemplary leaders who serve as guiding lights in our region. Join us as we celebrate those leaders who embody the LGH values of Community, Leadership, Connections, and Vision. Polaris is also LGH’s largest fundraising event of the year. Your support helps fund our programs and mission work that build stronger, more vibrant, and inclusive communities through leadership training.
Meet the winners!
Community Award – Hartford Public Library is a civic anchor in the City of Hartford, delivering literacy and educational services through innovative programs and community outreach. The library centers community priorities and voices in its work and serves as a national model for 21st-century urban libraries.
Leadership Award – Doris Rivera is a dedicated and passionate volunteer who has devoted much of her life to helping others. After a career as an educator and lifelong volunteerism with her church, Doris has been a weekly ESOL volunteer tutor at the House of Bread’s Jubilee House Program for nearly 20 years, exemplifying servant leadership.
Connections Award – Through his work with the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce and the CT Chapter of Bank of America’s Black Professionals Group, Christopher W. Clarke makes important connections between individuals and businesses, and challenges all to be a part of the solution for better representation and equity in our local business community.
Visionary Award – Dr. Paul H. Dworkin has had an exceptional medical career and has centered his work on the interface among child development, child health services, and child health policy. Through his leadership of the North Hartford Ascend Pipeline, Dr. Dworkin is working collaboratively with myriad partners and community members to ensure comprehensive cradle to career services for children living in the North Hartford Promise Zone.
