Murtha Cullina LLP attorney Joseph D. Szerejko has been appointed as the Independent Consumer Advocate for the Metropolitan District of Hartford, Connecticut (the “MDC”).

The role of the Independent Consumer Advocate is to advocate for consumer interests in all matters which may affect MDC consumers, including, water quality, water supply, and wastewater service quality.

Mr. Szerejko is a member of Murtha Cullina’s Litigation Department and the Municipal, Land Use, and Retail, Restaurant and Hospitality Practice Groups. He represents individuals, municipalities, municipal officials, and business entities, both as plaintiff and defendant, in various litigation matters. In addition, Mr. Szerejko advises and represents municipalities and municipal officials in land use enforcement matters, property tax appeals, and labor and employment matters.

Mr. Szerejko is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Litigation Section and he is an Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court.  In 2021, Mr. Szerejko was named a “New Leader in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune.  He is listed as a “Rising Star” by New England Super Lawyers and as “One to Watch” by Best Lawyers in America in the area of Litigation.

Mr. Szerejko received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Bates College.
