Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Proloy K. Das recently received the Trailblazer Award from the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut (SABAC).  This prestigious award recognizes a Connecticut resident of South Asian descent whose exemplary and noteworthy accomplishments mark them as a trailblazer among the members of Connecticut’s South Asian legal community.  The award was presented to Attorney Das during SABAC’s 14th Annual Awards Celebration held (virtually) on October 27. The event’s Keynote Speaker Kannon Shanmugam, the Chair of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation Practice, said “(Proloy and I) have known each other for more than a decade and I have been truly proud to watch Proloy develop into the finest Appellate lawyer in the State of Connecticut. Proloy is a true trailblazer having built his practice through hard work and tremendous talent.”

Attorney Das is the Chair of the Murtha Cullina Appellate Practice.  He has argued over seventy appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court, Connecticut Appellate Court, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In addition to leading the Appellate Practice, Proloy represents clients in elections and political cases. He is the Connecticut chair to the Republican National Lawyers Association, served as general counsel to the Connecticut Republican Party, and has represented the House and Senate Republican caucuses in constitutional litigation.

Under the leadership of Attorney Das the Murtha Cullina Appellate Practice has received recognition from the Connecticut Law Tribune as “Litigation Department of the Year” for five consecutive years.

Attorney Das earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
