Robinson+Cole Environmental, Energy + Telecommunications Group lawyer Emilee Mooney Scott was selected by the Hartford Business Journal for inclusion in its 2021 “40 Under Forty” class. The honorees were each profiled in a special section published in the August 23, 2021 edition of the Hartford Business Journal and recognized during a special event on September 21, 2021, at Pratt & Whitney Stadium/Rentschler Field commemorating the 2021 class and 40 Under Forty’s 25th anniversary.
As a partner in Robinson+Cole’s Environmental, Energy + Telecommunications Group, Scott has experience in facility compliance and transactional matters. Her experience includes a long-term placement in the legal department of a client, a multinational manufacturer, where she worked closely with the in-house and outside environmental and transactional counsel as well as corporate and facility environmental personnel. Scott assists clients in complying with federal and state environmental laws, with an emphasis on the management of hazardous and toxic substances. She helps clients understand, manage, and limit environmental risk associated with business and property transactions. She also assists clients in complying with transaction-triggered compliance requirements like the Connecticut Transfer Act.
Scott currently serves as Vice Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section and is a member of the Executive Board of the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals, Connecticut Chapter. Recently, she was selected to participate with the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Department Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) as a member of the Release-based Working Group.
In May, Scott was recognized as a “New Leader in the Law” during the Connecticut Legal Tribune’s Connecticut Legal Awards. The distinction spotlights lawyers under the age of 40 who have excelled in the courtroom, in client service and cultivation, in service to bar associations, and in performing pro bono work or community service in a volunteer capacity.
In addition to her practice, Scott is dedicated to giving back to her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for Auerfarm, an organization committed to ensuring that children and adults engage in, learn about, and enjoy agriculture, science, and the natural environment. In addition, she is a board member for Friends of Fernridge Park, which serves to advocate for the betterment and continued beauty of Fernridge Park in West Hartford, Connecticut, – where Scott resides. Scott is also a member of the Conservation & Environment Commission for the Town of West Hartford.
The Hartford Business Journal’s 2021 “40 Under Forty” class showcases a diversity of up-and-coming professionals who are leading their organizations in sectors that include the legal, technology, insurance, real estate, banking, and nonprofit arenas, and from organizations both small and large. They represent the promising future of the city, region, and state, and were selected from among more than 160 nominees.
