Robinson+Cole is excited to announce the relocation of its Hartford office to One State Street, also known as the Hartford Steam Boiler Building, a 24-story office tower in the central business district of downtown Hartford overlooking the Connecticut River. The move, slated for September 2023, will give the firm the top floors of the building, including floors 19, 20, 21, 23 and 24.

“Our leadership team has been planning our workforce needs now and in the future for the past several years,” said Robinson+Cole Managing Partner Rhonda J. Tobin. “Maintaining an inclusive workplace environment is a priority for us. We’re looking forward to building innovative space that will foster team-building, mentorship, and collaboration, and will enhance the hybrid work model through state-of-the-art technology. We are also excited to offer amenities not available in our current location to help ensure a more efficient, connected, flexible, and enjoyable workday. Our top priority is the delivery of outstanding client service, and this space will allow us to attract and retain the very best talent to achieve that goal.”

One State Street is the headquarters of Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB), a specialty insurer and provider of technology services founded in Hartford in 1866. The building offers a panoramic view of the Hartford area and the Connecticut River.

“We are pleased that Robinson+Cole has chosen One State Street for its offices in Hartford,” said Greg Barats, president and chief executive officer of HSB, part of Munich Re. “Robinson+Cole and HSB have each called Hartford home for more than 150 years and we look forward to providing an innovative office environment that helps them move into their workplace of the future.”

Robinson+Cole’s seamless transition to remote work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the inevitable need for a more innovative office environment. The firm will be progressing from a traditional office layout to a plan that will reinforce Robinson+Cole’s culture of collaboration, civility, and inclusion. The new office location will offer employees enhanced amenities, including a full-service cafeteria, destination restaurant, on-site fitness center, daycare center, and generous parking. Reducing its current footprint from approximately 120,000 square feet to less than 75,000 square feet, Robinson+Cole is taking cues from industry trends, focusing on employee amenities, and designing an office to support a thriving hybrid workforce. The firm has engaged the Boston office of global design and architecture firm Gensler on the project. Cushman & Wakefield and Newmark represented the firm in the transaction.

Robinson+Cole was recognized as a 2022 Best Places to Work in Connecticut by the Hartford Business Journal and named one of The Hartford Courant’s 2021 Top Workplaces—the only law firm to receive the distinction. In addition, the firm was highly ranked among 50 law firms in the country listed in the 2023 Best Law Firms to Work For as part of Vault’s Law Firm Quality of Life Rankings. Additional categories within the rankings, include Integration of Laterals & Clerks, Technology & Innovation, Wellness, Firm Culture and Associate/Partner Relations.
