from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Please join us for a special Community Prayer service outdoors at the labyrinth behind 76 Sherman Street, Hartford.

We will be celebrating and honoring our woods, including why wild space matters for human well-being, habitat, and biodiversity.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Susan Masino, Vernon D. Roosa Professor of Applied Science at Trinity College, who is interested in how public policies can improve brain health – with a special focus on New England’s amazing forests – and is involved in local educational and environmental issues.

On the same day, we will celebrate the 201st birth anniversary of Frederick Law Olmsted, the celebrated designer and pioneer in creating public parks such as Central Park in New York City and Elizabeth Park in Hartford and West Hartford.

Olmsted grew up in Hartford, right around Hartford International’s neighborhood, and spent time in his childhood in our riparian woods. The Olmsted 200 program, which has partnered with hundreds of organizations to renew interest and appreciation in the work and principles of Frederick Law Olmsted, is co-sponsoring this event.

After the program, we will enjoy tea and cake for Olmsted’s birthday, honoring his vision of creating access to nature in urban areas.

No registration is required. Please dress for the weather.
