Trinity Health Of New England kicks off a series of blessing and commissioning ceremonies to formally welcome Montez Carter, PharmD, FACHE, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Health Of New England. Colleagues, providers, and leaders gathered Tuesday afternoon at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford where the first ceremony was held. The ceremony included a formal blessing by the Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, S.T.D., Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Hartford, musical selection by hospital volunteers, and gift presentation. Also, as part of the official welcoming ceremony, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal presented Carter with a Citation of Recognition from the United States Senate and Hartford Athletic Chairman Bruce Mandell presented Carter with a personalized team jersey.

Carter took on the role of CEO effectively on October 3. He succeeds Reginald J. Eadie, M.D., M.B.A., who held the top leadership role at Trinity Health Of New England since 2018 and now serves as Senior Vice President of Physician Enterprise Development for Livonia, Michigan-based Trinity Health.

Carter began his career as a pharmacist, later transitioning to hospital leadership. He joined St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia, in 2010 as Vice President of Operations. He later served as President of St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro and President of St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, before his most recent position as President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Mary’s Health Care System, which includes three hospitals, a medical group, home health care/hospice agency, outpatient facilities and a retirement community. Carter was tapped to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Health Of New England following a nationwide search and a unanimous vote of the Board of Director’s selection committee.
