Hartford, CT – The youth of Hartford are taking the reins in this year’s youth-led mayoral forum, which will take place at Hartford Public High School located at 55 Forest St on Thursday, April 27th from 5:30-7:30 PM.

The event will be hosted by Our Piece of the PieĀ® Inc., along with presenting sponsors, My People Clinical, Angel of Edgewood, Capital Workforce Partners, The United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, Hartford YWCA, Hartford Alumni Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Tau Iota Chapter of Hartford, CT).

The youth-led forum is a collaboration between local non-profit organizations and youth activists with the purpose of providing a platform for young people to voice their concerns and ask questions about issues that affect them and their community. Moderated by Samantha Diaz (Freshman, UConn Hartford) and Taylor Wilson (Senior, Weaver High School), candidates will be given equal time to respond to questions formulated by the youth participants.

The youth-led forum is a unique opportunity for the candidates to engage with young voters and listen to their perspectives on issues such as education, public safety, employment, and affordable housing. The forum will also provide an opportunity for young people to learn more about the candidates and their positions on these issues.

“We are excited to be leading this year’s mayoral forum,” said one of the youth organizers. “We believe that young people should have a say in who leads our city and this forum is a step towards making that a reality.”
