Elevating MY Network - by Rebecca Nolan

Mar 02, 2017

One of the Alliance’s initiatives “Leading The Change: Changing The Lead” is to create a conversation that will leverage organizational change through impactful leadership.

CoreNet/CREW CT Partnership

On February 28, 2017 the CT/Westchester chapter CoreNet Global and CREW CT joined forces for an evening high atop The Hartford’s Tower. From the 22nd floor, connections were made with movers and shakers from the commercial real estate industry. As a member of both organizations, I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by strong leaders who shape and support our cities and communities. Thinking back, the idea to create a women’s networking event came over a chance meeting during the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame.

Our planning team—Stephanie Fulbright, The Hartford, Maureen Funke, Gilbane Company, Deb Laviero, OFI, Courtney Hendricson, CERC and myself—worked to form one of the best networking forums I’ve attended in recent memory. As I navigated the room, I was pleased to meet many new people and heard how excited they were have come, many of whom would never had the opportunity to stand at the top of the Tower and view the beautiful city lights below.

To add to the excitement, we were joined by Mayor Luke Bronin who was introduced by Jahn Marie Surette, ‎Senior Vice President, Chief Procurement Officer at The Hartford. We were so surprised to be joined by Angela Cain, Chief Executive Officer of CoreNet Global. Angela flew in, just for the event, from Atlanta, GA to join nearly 170 attendees. Along with a scattering of our male counterparts, who also attended with wives and daughters, we made new contacts that I hope will thrive.

Working with other organizations, I see my role at the Alliance developing new opportunities to Elevate MY Network!
