There’s no guidebook for transition. It represents change – it takes us out of our comfort zone and it provides a unique opportunity to look inward and outward. The space of transition is a rich moment for evolution and keeping pace while preparing for a new chapter.
With the departure of longtime President and CEO Oz Griebel, I was asked to serve as Interim President and CEO during a national search for permanent leadership. I was honored to be given the opportunity and was confident that I could make a positive impact and sustain the MetroHartford Alliance’s momentum for the next leader. Transition is an opportunity – an important phase of progress that delivers fresh perspective and fosters new ideas for the path forward. For me, taking the helm has been an invaluable opportunity to work more closely with a talented team of professionals - to partner with them to steward the Alliance into its next chapter. It is my responsibility to ensure that those talents continue to shine on the road ahead.
In nearly 15 years with this organization, what resonates most for me is the richness of our partnerships. We are uniquely empowered to advance this wonderfully vibrant community and it is the engagement of our investors that enables us to connect those dots. While serving as President and CEO, it has been my distinct pleasure to continue to build excitement, energy and growth for the organization. As the Alliance enhances its role as the region’s economic development leader, on-going partnerships with key stakeholders will ensure a robust regional economy for generations.
The Alliance’s renewed and enhanced focus on economic development is in direct response to investor feedback. We examined the success of similar locales and looked to Alliance investors large and small to craft a roadmap. We anticipate the Alliance’s new President and CEO to arrive next month, and I will work alongside this individual to convey this plan.
The success of the people in this city and region mean a great deal to me. My eyes are trained on the Alliance’s role in this unfolding story. Greater Hartford is an exceptional place to launch a business and advance an industry, to root a career and build a future: this transition is about evolution and growth, not standing still. The foundation for a stronger MetroHartford Alliance is rising now, and I am proud to guide this vital part of the journey.
