Arts and Economic Prosperity at the Rising Star Breakfast

The MetroHartford Alliance's November Rising Star Breakfast featured Randy I. Cohen, Vice President of Research and Policy for Americans for the Arts. The focus was "The Arts and Economic Prosperity" and included results of a study on the economic impact the non profit arts and culture industry in Hartford and Tolland Counties. This event was held in partnership with The Greater Hartford Arts Council and sponsored by The Phoenix Companies, Inc.

Mr. Cohen’s presentation included some eye-opening figures such as the $230 million dollars in expenditures by organizations and audiences in the fiscal year of 2010. The study by Americans for the Arts also revealed that a total of 6,879 jobs are supported by the arts and culture industry generating $21.4 million of revenue for local and state government.
