The Phoenix Companies, Inc. Executive Named 2015 Alliance Board Chair
Bonnie J. Malley, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, The Phoenix Companies, Inc., was elected 2015 Chair of the MetroHartford Alliance today. She succeeds Immediate Past Chair Mike Matteo, Chief Growth Officer, Optum.
Malley has been with The Phoenix Companies, Inc. since 1985. In her current role, she is responsible for all financial oversight and investor relations, and brings a tremendous knowledge of Hartford and the entire Region to her role as Board Chair. She serves on the boards of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and Connecticut Forum and formerly chaired the board of the iQuilt Partnership.
“I am honored and proud to be part of an organization that works to ensure our City and Region remain the premier place to live, play, do business and raise a family,” says Malley. “We have tremendous assets and resources in this community, and it is paramount that we leverage the work of our businesses as we compete aggressively for jobs, capital and talent.”
Adds Mike Matteo, “It was an honor and privilege to serve as the Alliance’s Board Chair. I want to congratulate Bonnie on assuming the role of 2015 Chair. She is a committed leader in our Region, and will continue the organization’s role in providing value to investors.”
According to Oz Griebel, Alliance President and CEO, Malley will also play an integral role in the organization’s four-year strategic planning process. “We have been extremely fortunate over the organization’s history to have the Region’s most highly regarded private sector leaders chair the Alliance’s Board and Committees. Mike Matteo sustained that tradition over the past two years as well as playing a major role on the Capital Region Development Authority, and we look forward to Bonnie, as the first woman to serve as the Alliance Chair, continuing to contribute her expertise and passion to driving the Alliance’s mission as an economic driver for our City and Region.”
Additionally, Gordon Scott, Scotts’ Jamaican Bakery, was named Chair of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce. He succeeds Lawrence Davis, Webster Bank. Also, Adam McLauglin, Webster Bank, will succeed McKinley Albert, Camp Courant, as HYPE Chair; and Michael Klein, Travelers, will succeed Jim Bedard, United HealthCare, as IFS Cluster Chair.
