Hartford, Conn. (July 2, 2015)
- The Hartford Consortium for Higher Education is pleased to announce its new chair, Wilfredo Nieves, Ed.D., President of Capital Community College. Dr. Nieves will lead the Consortium for the next two years.
'The main work of the Consortium addresses issues of educational equity, access to higher education, degree completion and the economic benefits that come with a well-educated citizenry," said Dr. Nieves. "This higher education collaborative has, since 1972, fostered cross-campus collaborations and community engagement through programs such as Career Beginnings, Jobs for America’s Graduates, Jr. Apprentice, Hartford Promise and the Center for Higher Education Retention Excellence. We are particularly excited by the opportunities arising with the UConn and Trinity College initiatives downtown and with the intended expansion of the Capital Community College Hartford Heritage Project to include more of the Consortium institutions which will allow more area college students to interact with the city and region."
The Hartford Consortium for Higher Education includes Capital Community College, Charter Oak State College, Central Connecticut State University, Goodwin College, Manchester Community College, Hartford Seminary, St. Thomas Seminary, Trinity College, University of Connecticut Greater Hartford Campus, University of Hartford, and University of Saint Joseph.
