The State Tax Panel will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 2E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. The panel is evaluating how to modernize Connecticut’s tax policy and would like your recommendations and solutions - not just commentary - on our State’s tax system.
The panel encourages you to share your suggestions on the following areas:
• Sales and Use Tax
• Estate and Gift Taxation
• Personal Income Tax
• Property Tax
• Tax Exempt Properties
• Business Personal Property Taxation
• Personal Tangible Property
• Real Estate Conveyance
• Controlling Interest Transfers and Local Option Taxes
To Testify in Person
If you wish to testify in person, you should be in line by the breakout space next to Room 2E before 2:00 p.m. to participate in the lottery drawing. At 2:00 p.m., each individual in line will pull a number that will correspond to his or her place on the signup sheet. The lottery will conclude at 3:30 p.m. If you miss that timeframe, your name will be added to the bottom of the list of speakers by staff in Room 2E. Speakers will be limited to roughly three minutes of testimony followed by questions from the panel. All speakers must be signed up on the speakers list.
