Hartford, Conn. (January 20, 2016)
- Oz Griebel, the Alliance's President and Chief Executive Officer, issued this statement on today's baseball stadium agreement
"While the unanticipated shortfall for the construction of Dunkin' Donuts Park will delay Hartford's Opening Day for the Yard Goats, the Alliance commends newly elected Mayor Luke Bronin for taking action promptly that will ensure the completion of a project that is critical both to bringing Minor League Baseball back to the Capital City and to the entire Downtown North initiative. The Mayor has worked steadily since his inauguration with Centerplan, the Solomons, the Eastern League and City officials to ensure that the shortfall is absorbed by all parties as fairly as possible while delivering a Park with amenities that provide fans with an experience that secures their enthusiastic support over the long term. The Park, the initiative and the Yard Goats will be invaluable contributors to the continued revitalization of the urban core of the Region. As a member of the Stadium Authority, I will work with the other Authority members, the Mayor and the City Council to ensure that the repayment of all bonds issued by the Authority has minimal impact on the City's operating budgets and that the Park delivers on its economic potential."
