Hartford, Conn. (August 31, 2016) – The MetroHartford Alliance today announced the launch of the MetroHartford Alliance Independent Expenditure Committee (MHAIEC), an initiative designed to highlight key issues in the upcoming state legislative elections.
MHAIEC’s goal is to raise the profile of critical issues impacting the state and region, including sustainable economic growth, the attraction and retention of private sector jobs and increased capital investment. MHAIEC will neither endorse nor support or oppose candidates.
The Alliance generally describes the geography its covers as the 38 municipalities included in the Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG). MHAIEC is offering candidates in CRCOG communities the opportunity to share their ideas and perspectives with thousands of the region’s voters through a questionnaire that the organization has developed.
“The Alliance represents hundreds of private sector employers who have a strong interest in the background, qualifications and opinions of office seekers in the capitol region,” said Oz Griebel, President and CEO of MetroHartford Alliance and Chairman of MHAIEC. “As November 8th approaches, MHAIEC will provide greater Hartford’s voters with the opportunity to learn more about the candidates’ positions on issues critical to our state and region’s future.”
