Robinson+Cole Honored by Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation as a “Leader for Justice”

The Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation (GHLAF) honored Robinson+Cole during its Celebrating Leaders for Justice event at the Pond House Café in West Hartford on May 30, 2018. The event honors leaders in the legal industry who have dedicated their time, expertise, and financial resources to help Greater Hartford Legal Aid (GHLA) end poverty and fight for justice in the Greater Hartford area.

“Robinson+Cole has been an estimable partner to GHLA since its inception in 1958, helping GHLA to provide core legal aid to hundreds of thousands of clients over those decades,” said GHLAF President Ricardo Anzaldúa. “Since The Foundation’s incorporation, Robinson+Cole has been a generous and consistent supporter, singlehandedly contributing over $559,000 to support GHLA’s work.”

Robinson+Cole was a founding firm of the GHLAF in 1993. George Hastings, a partner in the firm, served as the inaugural President of the Foundation’s Board from May 1994 to June 1999, and remained active on the Board until August 2016, shortly before his passing. Today, both Managing Partner Stephen E. Goldman and Norman H. Roos, serve on the GHLAF Board of Directors.

“Our dedication to providing pro bono legal services is consistent with the fabric of Robinson+Cole, an enduring feature that we are pleased and proud to fulfill in vibrant partnership with GHLA and the Foundation,” said Mr. Goldman.

Mr. Goldman also served as a GHLA board member from 1986 to 2002 and as Board President from 1997 to 2002. Robinson+Cole continues to partner with GHLA and is currently represented by Edward J. Heath, who serves as Vice President of the GHLA Board of Directors.

The Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation’s mission is to ensure equal access to justice by raising funds to preserve and expand civil legal services for low-income people in Greater Hartford by supporting Greater Hartford Legal Aid. GHLA strives to achieve equal justice for poor people, work with clients to promote social justice, and address the effects and root causes of poverty. For 60 years GHLA has increased access to the courts, advocated for fairness in the application of law, and broken down barriers and improved systems while practicing preventative law.
