CCAT Seminar on Additive Manufacturing on Aug. 9

Among the breadth of talents from the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) Advanced Manufacturing Center comes an abundance of opportunities to learn via educational seminar from its own experts.

CCAT’s Additive Manufacturing Research and Applications Senior Engineer Jeff Crandall will instruct a seminar on Thursday, Aug. 9 focused on Metal Additive Technology – Choices and Applications.  Additive Manufacturing (AM) is evolving rapidly into an important manufacturing tool and AM using metals has its own full spectrum of technologies and capabilities. The workshop will be an introduction to AM and provides an overview of what is AM, why it’s important to your business, existing and developing technology and equipment, how to choose the right technology for your application, and what it takes to start doing metal additive from a business perspective. The workshop will end with a tour of CCAT’s Advanced Manufacturing Center with a focus on our additive manufacturing program.

This seminar would be beneficial to company executives and engineers interested in finding out more about AM, those exploring whether it makes sense for their companies to get involved in additive, or companies looking to add additive equipment but not sure what they should get and why. There is no fee to attend but pre-registration is required (

Over the years, CCAT has run a range of sessions and seminars from Additive Manufacturing, Precision Machining, Non-Contact Inspection, Tool Setting/Tool Management and CAD CAM Software. Training sessions are not designed as preparation for a career, rather are designed for those already in the field who are looking to stay current and on the leading edge. Sessions are made available on a rolling basis and new events are added continuously throughout the year. Current offerings may be viewed on the CCAT events page (
