The Village is pleased to appoint Carol Waxman of West Hartford and Angela Miller of Enfield as the co-chairs of the new West Hartford Auxiliary and Second Chance Boutique.
Carol Waxman is a Children’s Services Librarian at the West Hartford Public Library. A strong advocate for children, she was appointed an ambassador to The Village in 2017 and is looking forward to supporting The Village even further in this new endeavor.
Angela Miller is a certified TLS Health & Wellness Coach and Internet Franchise Owner. She is excited to bring her experience and knowledge as a volunteer with the Suffield Second Chance Shop to this new West Hartford venture.
The new Second Chance Boutique is slated to open on January 5th, 2019, and is located at 175 Park Road in West Hartford (formerly the Junior League of Hartford’s Clothes Horse shop). The Village’s three other Second Chance Shops − in Glastonbury, Simsbury and Suffield − have been successfully run by volunteer Auxiliaries for over 60 years. Last year, they collectively raised nearly $280,000 in support of The Village. Over the 60 years, they raised $5.5 million.
Starting Saturday, November 3, the Boutique will be accepting donations of new or gently used women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as accessories, antiques and collectibles, books, holiday items, household items and jewelry. Drop-off hours at the store will take place from 10am-1pm on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday through Saturday, December 15. The shop will not be open for donations the week of November 19.
Do you have questions or want to get involved in launching the Second Chance Boutique? Various volunteer opportunities and shifts are available. Contact Jennifer Meligonis DeJohn at firstname.lastname@example.org or 860-297-0519.
