The MetroHartford Alliance is pleased to announce that Gene Goddard
has joined the team as Chief Business Investment Officer. Gene has over 28 years of economic development experience at the local, regional and state level and is a creative, accomplished business development veteran, with proven track record in working with his clients to close high-profile and technology-based business expansions. He was most recently Senior Vice President and Consultant, Housing, and Senior VP/Consultant, Economic Development, for Sprinsted. Prior to joining Springsted he was Director of Business Investment for Greater MSP.
Gene Goddard has extensive experience as a public policy leader in the development of initiatives supporting business development. He has assisted his local government clients on networking and partnership development, negotiation, strategic planning, business cost analysis, project leadership, lead generation, industry research, marketing, workforce and business development incentives. In addition, he has coordinated over $3.5 billion in business expansion projects for small business and large corporate entities.
These projects include the following industries: computer electronics/software/IT, medical device/bioscience, food processing warehouse/distribution, data centers, call centers, advanced manufacturing and headquarters projects for Fortune 500 and Forbes 400 private firms.
Gene Goddard has a master’s degree in Public Administration from Minnesota State University – Mankato and a Mini-Master’s degree in Real Estate Development from the University of St. Thomas. He is a Certified Economic Development Professional (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) as well as having received his certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) by the National Development Council certification course. In 2017 he was named by Consultant Connect as one of the Top 50 Economic Developers in North America, and in 2012 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Economic Development from Finance and Commerce magazine. Gene is also a Series 50 certified Municipal Advisor.
