KeyBank CEO Makes Commitment to Advance Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace

KeyCorp announced today that CEO Beth Mooney signed onto the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Joined by 150 CEOs from some of the world’s leading companies, Mooney pledged to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected. Key employees across the country – including the Connecticut market – will be encouraged to discuss diversity, inclusion, and their successes and challenges in doing so. 

“Beth’s commitment to the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ aligns with our local efforts in creating a welcoming and open workplace,” said Jeff L. Hubbard, KeyBank Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Market President. “From our headquarters in downtown New Haven to each small-town branch, Key employees across Connecticut are engaged with each other and their communities to enact positive change, rallying behind diversity and inclusion in the workplace. They’re looking forward to continuing this commitment alongside the additional 150 companies who took this pledge.”

The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ includes three initial goals for all participating companies. Employees will continue to cultivate and support an open dialogue on complex, and sometimes uncomfortable, conversations about diversity and inclusion. Each company will be implementing and expanding unconscious bias education, which will help employees recognize and minimize potential blind spots. A communication network, CEOAction.com, will also encourage employees to share best known and unsuccessful strategies with one another, helping all participating companies work through their challenges and share their successes together.

Previous to Mooney’s CEO Action pledge, Key has worked towards diversity and inclusion through development and investments in the workforce, workplace, and marketplace. These focuses include developing business relationships with minority-, women-, veteran-, LGBT- and disability-owned businesses in local communities; facilitating the Key Business Impact and Networking Groups, affinity groups strategically aligned to enhance corporate goals for diversity and inclusion and employee engagement; and Key’s targeted approach in its Campus and Veteran recruiting program.
