“We are pleased to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association – Connecticut Chapter and proud to sponsor the Promise Garden at the Hartford Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the sixth consecutive year,” said Julianne Roth, president and founder of Companions for Living. “The flowers, which are personalized with hand-written messages, highlight the personal motivations that people have for participating in the Walk and collectively create a colorful and meaningful garden.”
Through color, the Promise Garden flowers represent the diverse reasons participants have gathered. Blue represents “I have Alzheimer’s.”; Yellow: “I am supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s.”; Purple: “I have lost someone to Alzheimer’s.”; and Orange: “I support the cause and a vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.” Participants are encouraged to take the flowers home as remembrance of their Walk experience and their promises made.
The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for care, support and research. Alzheimer’s is the nation’s sixth leading cause of death. The walk is held annually, and more than 600 communities participate across the country.
