Webster Bank Promotes Velez to Market Sales Specialist Manager

Webster Bank has promoted veteran banker Cathy Velez to the position of senior vice president, market sales specialist manager.

In her new role, Velez will lead a team of market sales specialists as they provide critical coaching and support in a number of key areas related to enhancing sales execution and ensuring a positive customer experience.

She reports to Jonathan Roberts, executive vice president, Consumer Deposits and network management.

Velez joined Webster 17 years ago and subsequently managed banking centers in New Haven and North Haven. In 2014, she was promoted to manager of the New Haven market, where she distinguished herself by guiding a team of 16 banking centers to the top annual performance ranking for the past two years.

“Cathy’s ascent to her new position represents the culmination of a career at Webster in which she has consistently strived for and achieved excellence,” said Roberts.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Velez serves as a member of the board of directors and chairs the Governance Committee for Columbus House, a New Haven-based nonprofit that serves the homeless and those who are at risk of becoming homeless.

A resident of North Branford, Connecticut, Velez attended Post University.
