Murtha Cullina Partner Joseph B. Schwartz has been named Co-Chair of the Firm’s Municipal Practice Group.
Mr. Schwartz has spent the bulk of his legal career representing municipalities on matters involving general governance, construction law, land use and tax appeals. He also has extensive experience advising municipalities on zoning enforcement, contracting, public procurement and real estate, as well as building code, fire code, water and sewer issues. In addition, Mr. Schwartz regularly presents on various municipal topics for the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities.
The Murtha Cullina Municipal Group currently serves as general counsel or town attorney for seven Connecticut municipalities and as special counsel to over 25 other municipalities. Mr. Schwartz joins Partner Kari L. Olson as Co-Chair of the practice group.
Mr. Schwartz serves on the Board of Directors of the Mandell Jewish Community Center of Greater Hartford, and on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association of Water Pollution Control Authorities. He earned his B.B.A. from The George Washington University and his J.D from The University of Connecticut School of Law.
