Kevin Flood, PE, received the 2019 Award of Merit from the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA), the region’s largest and oldest not-for-profit organization of water works professionals.
The Award of Merit is bestowed yearly to an individual who has been a member of the association for a minimum of the past 5 years and who has demonstrated, in the opinion of the Award of Merit Committee, the highest level of outstanding service to NEWWA, a water utility, the waterworks practice in general, or a combination of the aforementioned.
Flood is an associate at Fuss & O’Neill, Inc., based in Manchester, Connecticut, where he is the acting water practice leader in the firm’s Water & Natural Resources business line. He has 30 years of experience in water, wastewater, and water resources, and his experience includes design, construction, and planning for treatment facilities, pump stations, storage tanks, and water main extensions.
Flood is recognized for actively supporting NEWWA and the water profession through participation on the NEWWA Program Committee, which he has chaired since 2017. The committee is tasked with the coordination and delivery of technical programs during NEWWA’s conferences and monthly meetings. Flood first joined the Program Committee as a member in 2009 and later served as a committee secretary. Flood also contributes to NEWWA conferences by serving on the Site Selection Committee.
In addition to NEWWA, Flood is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, New England Water Environment Association, and the Connecticut Section of the American Water Works Association.
Flood earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Science in environmental engineering from the University of Connecticut.
He is an active member of the St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish and volunteers for St. Bridget's School, both in Manchester, CT. Flood resides in Manchester, CT, with his wife, Susanna, and his son, Jack.
Flood received this award on September 24, 2019, during the 138th NEWWA Annual Conference in Rockport, Maine.
