Glastonbury Second Chance Shop to Reopen November 6 at New Location

Volunteer-run boutique begins its next chapter at 2450 Main Street in Glastonbury

Glastonbury, Conn. The Glastonbury Second Chance Shop will officially reopen on November 6 at its new location, 2450 Main Street in Glastonbury, welcoming shoppers back after a temporary closure to facilitate the move.

The reopening comes as the Glastonbury Second Chance Shop celebrates 66 years of supporting the crucial, life-changing programs and services of The Village for Families & Children through the sale of new and high-quality, gently used clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, antiques, and household items.

Operated and managed entirely by volunteers, the Shop raises funding to support The Village's broad range of services for children, adults and families, including behavioral health services, basic needs and family strengthening support, financial coaching, and more.

Following its reopening, The Shop will once again accept donations of new and gently used fall and winter items during business hours: Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00am to 3:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Information about donation guidelines, store hours and special events will be available on The Village's website at thevillage.org/shops and on the Glastonbury Second Chance Shop Facebook page.

Despite the temporary closure, the Glastonbury Second Chance Shop was still able to donate more than $260,000 to The Village this year thanks to the patronage of shoppers on eBay and the dedication of its volunteers. Those funds help support life-changing services that enable children and families to overcome challenges, heal and thrive.

The Glastonbury Second Chance Shop is one of four Second Chance Shops that are instrumental in supporting The Village. In addition to providing affordable shopping options, the Shops give high-quality clothing and other merchandise a second life. Over more than seven decades, proceeds from the Second Chance Shops have generated more than $10 million to support The Village's mission. Other Shop locations are in Simsbury, Suffield, and West Hartford.
