Harris Beach Murtha Completes Successful Combination with Peabody & Arnold

(Sept. 1, 2026) — Harris Beach Murtha has completed its combination with Boston based Peabody & Arnold, marking a significant milestone in the firm’s continued expansion across the Northeast. Nearly 40 attorneys and 25 professionals have now fully transitioned into Harris Beach Murtha, more than doubling the firm’s Boston presence and strengthening its nationally recognized practices.

Since the June 29 announcement of Peabody & Arnold attorneys joining Harris Beach Murtha, the two firms, with 126-year and 170-year histories, respectively, have completed successful operational integration. Peabody & Arnold attorneys and staff are now incorporated into Harris Beach Murtha’s IT systems, HR operations and administrative infrastructure. Practice groups have combined and begun to share resources and accelerate client introductions across the expanded firm.

Harris Beach Murtha now has well over 300 attorneys working across 19 offices in five states, and in more than 30 major practice areas.

“We are pleased to formally welcome the Peabody & Arnold team into Harris Beach Murtha,” said Chris Jagel, CEO of Harris Beach Murtha. “This integration has been seamless, and our combined teams are already seeing meaningful results — including cross firm referrals and the introduction of new services to clients across industries, demonstrating the value of our expanded geographic reach.”

Peabody & Arnold, longtime legal leaders in Boston, brings new and enhanced capabilities to Harris Beach Murtha, including nationally recognized transactional and management liability coverage practices, deep experience navigating insurance coverage disputes, and professional liability defense, while supplementing Harris Beach Murtha’s services in a number of areas, including labor and employment, medical and life sciences, health care and long-term care, and business litigation, as well as product liability and mass torts.

“We’ve hit the ground running,” said Christopher A. Parady, former managing partner at Peabody & Arnold. “Our attorneys are excited about the immediate collaboration, and clients are already benefiting from broader resources, deeper regional insight and a wider range of services.”

Even with deep local roots, the newly expanded firm offers clients extensive reach, delivering legal services nationwide and internationally. With a deep understanding of complex regulatory, governmental, political and cultural environments, its attorneys are well positioned to navigate regional, national and global legal challenges.

The completed integration builds on Harris Beach Murtha’s successful 2025 combination with Murtha Cullina and reflects the firm’s 170-year commitment to growth, innovation and exceptional client service.
