Leadership Greater Hartford’s 2025 Leadership Breakfast: Leading Locally in a Time of National Change

Hartford, CT – In a time of national shifts and evolving challenges, Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH) will gather the region’s changemakers for its annual Leadership Breakfast—a morning of connection, reflection, and action. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00a.m. at YG Club at Dunkin’ Park.

This year’s theme, Leading Locally in a Time of National Change, explores how community-minded leadership can create meaningful impact—no matter the scale—when grounded in vision, courage, and collaboration. Attendees will be inspired and activated to consider new ways to engage with and support their communities after learning from some of Connecticut’s most dedicated public servants.

Keynote Speaker

The morning features a keynote address by Mayor Connor Martin, East Hartford’s youngest and first mayor of color. Mayor Martin’s bold, community-driven leadership is revitalizing the town, fostering inclusive growth, and uniting residents around a shared vision for the future.

Distinguished Panelists

Following the keynote, a panel of respected leaders will share perspectives from their service and leadership journeys:

  • Andrea Barton Reeves – Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Social Services

  • Matt Hart – Executive Director, Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG)

  • Maryam Khan – State Representative & Deputy Majority Leader

  • Vanessa Roberts Avery – Former U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut

A Catalyst for Action

“To us, this breakfast is more than a conversation—it’s a catalyst, ” said Larisa Kottke, CEO of Leadership Greater Hartford. “We want attendees to leave not only inspired, but ready to take meaningful steps to strengthen their neighborhoods, support local institutions, and lead with compassion and accountability. ”

Civic Engagement Tabling Invitation

To deepen connections between attendees and opportunities for action, LGH invites civic engagement organizations to participate through tabling opportunities. Organizations interested in hosting a table and connecting directly with attendees are encouraged to contact Larisa Kottke at larisa.kottke@leadershipgh.org for details.
