MetroHartford Alliance Employees Volunteer at CT Foodshare, Packing Over 8,000 Pounds of Food

Hartford, Conn. (April 6, 2026) — Last month, employees of the MetroHartford Alliance rolled up their sleeves to support the fight against food insecurity by volunteering at CT Foodshare. During a dedicated shift, the team worked together to inspect and pack food boxes that would then by distributed to pantries, meal programs, and mobile food sites across Connecticut.

In just one shift, MetroHartford Alliance employees packed an impressive 8,011 pounds of food—equivalent to 6,676 meals for individuals and families in need throughout the state.

The volunteer effort reflects the MHA's ongoing commitment to strengthening the Hartford region and supporting community partners. CT Foodshare, a long-time investor in the MetroHartford Alliance, plays a critical role in addressing hunger across Connecticut.  According to estimates from Feeding America, more than 516,000 (1 in 7) Connecticut residents struggle with hunger, while more than 122,000 (1 in 6) children are food insecure.

“All of us at the MHA were excited to support CT Foodshare and contribute to their incredible work,” said David Griggs, President and CEO. “We have many investors who engage in serving the community, working to fight hunger, revitalize neighborhoods, and mobilize resources to those who need it most. This is a small way we can show our support for them and our shared mission of making these communities stronger.”

Members of the MHA also received a tour of the Wallingford, CT campus. The 85,000 square foot facility operates as the organization’s headquarters, where meals are distributed to more than 480 partner food programs and over 100 mobile food pantries across the state.
