NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Bob Maxon to Be Inducted into Connecticut Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (Aug 24, 2026) - NBC Connecticut / WVIT weekday morning StormTracker meteorologist Bob Maxon will be inducted into the Connecticut Broadcasters Association (CBA) Hall of Fame as a member of the 2026 class. Maxon and fellow inductees will be honored at the CBA annual awards dinner on Wednesday, October 7.
Maxon joined NBC Connecticut in August 1995 and has become a familiar presence for viewers starting their day, delivering forecasts and weather news on NBC Connecticut News Today from 5 to 7 a.m. and through TODAY. In 2025, he marked 30 years with the station, a milestone in a morning-television career that began in 1987 at Cable News Center 7 in Ithaca, N.Y. His decades at WVIT have made him one of the station’s most enduring journalists.

Across nearly four decades in meteorology, Maxon has guided viewers through some of the Northeast’s most consequential weather events, including Hurricane Bob in 1991, the Great Winter Storm of 1993, the Blizzard of 1996, the Presidents Day Blizzard of 2003, Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, and the February 2013 blizzard. He received the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for weather forecasting and broadcasting.
Maxon joins past NBC Connecticut CBA Hall of Fame inductees, including longtime news anchor Gerry Brooks and station engineer Joe DiMaggio.

Beyond his work on-air, Maxon has supported organizations across Connecticut and the region, volunteering his time to help raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Special Olympics, American Heart Association and FAVARH, The Arc of the Farmington Valley.
