New Reach Partners with DoorDash to Expand Access to Food and Essential Items for Homebound Residents

$2,500 Community Credits donation from DoorDash will support New Reach’s FISH program

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (July 23, 2025) – New Haven-based New Reach, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping vulnerable households achieve stability through wraparound services, recently received a $2,500 donation from DoorDash through the delivery service’s Community Credits program.

This partnership will support New Reach’s Food in Service to the Homebound (FISH) program, which delivers groceries and essential items to homebound Connecticut residents due to age, disability, or other barriers. Clients will receive DoorDash gift cards with their monthly deliveries and will have access to follow-up support on how to use the gift cards to access meals and essential items.

“Many of the individuals and families we serve face barriers that make everyday errands difficult. Our delivery programs provide them with access to essential items, including food," said New Reach Chief Executive Officer Kellyann Day. "Support from DoorDash helps us bring these resources directly to the people who need them most without compromising their dignity or independence."

“We believe everyone deserves access to a nutritious meal. For those unable to leave home, it’s especially challenging to meet basic needs, such as purchasing food and other essential items,” said Daniela Michanie, DoorDash Public Engagement Manager for New England. “Programs offered by organizations like New Reach are crucial to improving the lives of families across the region, and we are proud to contribute to their important work.”

New Reach has been addressing housing and food insecurity in Fairfield and New Haven counties since 1990. The organization’s programs span eviction prevention, youth housing, affordable housing development, and essential support services.

DoorDash's Community Credits program provides gift cards directly to nonprofit organizations working to empower their local communities with greater access to food, essentials and more. The program launched in 2021 and partners with organizations across the U.S. and Canada.
