September Serendipity
Parkville Art Gallery Marks One Year In Operation With New Exhibit Opening
[HARTFORD, CT, AUGUST 7] - Hartford’s largest commercial art space dedicated to exhibiting local art is approaching the completion of its first solar return! Parkville Art Gallery will mark its milestone with the opening reception of Serendipity, the next exhibit rotation, on Friday, September 12, from 6pm-9pm.
The announcement of upcoming exhibiting - and local - artists is forthcoming. Alongside the quarterly rotation of featured artists, Parkville Art Gallery permanently showcases new work from its two artists-in-residence: Miguel Jose Matos, Gallery Director, and Antony Zito, Artistic Director. Their pieces offer a continuous throughline within the Gallery, grounding the vision with each of their distinct and signature artistic perspectives.
“Serendipity not only speaks to the importance of the Connecticut art scene, but its impact on a larger, human scale,” said Meredith Longo, Managing Director at the Gallery. “To open your life to art is to be ready for how it moves you. How it challenges you. How it uplifts you. Ultimately, it informs how you move through and make sense of the world.”
Parkville Art Gallery’s current exhibit, Life Cycle, will be extended from its original end date in early August through Friday, August 29. The exhibit includes artists Jonathan Frechette, Christine Chaise Greenwood, Peter Greenwood, Edith Skiba Lamonika, Meredith Longo, Andre Rochester, Mark Schebell, Jason Werner, and Robert Zott. The mediums are blown glass, painting, collage, photography, and upcycled art.
Serendipity’s opening night will include catering from Distinctive Ideas, live music, DJ sets, wine for purchase from Vino Crudo, and pop-ups from Connecticut vendors to be announced.
This event is free and open to the public with RSVP, ages 16 and up.
