HARTFORD, Conn. In addition, Saint Francis was recognized as a High Performing hospital for its care in the following specialties: Aortic Aneurysm Repair; Aortic Valve Surgery; Heart Bypass Surgery; Congestive Heart Failure; Colon Cancer Surgery; Hip Replacement; Hip Fracture; Knee Replacement; Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma; Lung Cancer Surgery; Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR); Heart Arrhythmia; and Pacemaker Implantation.

“We are incredibly proud that once again, Saint Francis Hospital is being recognized as a Best Regional Hospital,” said Valerie Powell-Stafford, President, Saint Francis. “It is a reflection of the dedication of our entire team to providing the highest quality care to our patients and community. We are also honored to receive High Performing marks in several specialties, underscoring our commitment to providing nationally recognized health care with a patient-centered, compassionate approach.”

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals’ performance on objective measures such as riskadjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals Procedures and Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care. This year, among other methodology refinements, U.S. News added ratings in Heart Arrythmia and Pacemaker Implementation, for a new total of 22 ratings.

“For most Americans, health care decisions are made close to home,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “These local hospital rankings, entirely performance-driven, equip individuals and their families, in consultation with their medical providers, to choose the highest quality care available in their own communities.”

Best Regional Hospitals are general hospitals that have earned a high performing rating in at least nine procedures and conditions. Across service lines and in quality measures, the hospitals in this group collectively define excellence.
