New hires at Hartford Foundation for Public Giving will enhance the Foundation’s grantmaking and learning and evaluation efforts.

Wheeler’s Family Health & Wellness Centers in Waterbury, Hartford, and Plainville will host Saturday COVID-19 vaccination clinics for the public, adults ages 18+, as well as additional clinics for adults during the week in Waterbury and Hartford. No appointment or referrals are needed, and the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available.

Chrysalis Center is once again hosting its annual “Donation Creation” Food Drive through June 1 to fill the shelves of Freshplace, the organization’s innovative client-choice, fresh food, and case management food pantry. Freshplace serves up to 100 families living in the poorest neighborhoods in the North End of Hartford, Since the onset of the pandemic, Freshplace has seen an increase in the demand for food.

May is National Foster Care Month, a time to consider the many children and youth in need of loving homes and the professionals dedicating to finding foster families. During this period, especially, as individuals and families emerge from the long-term challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an ever-pressing need for foster families in Connecticut.

Hands On Hartford celebrates the appointment of six new board members.

The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) today opened registration for the much-anticipated return of the three-state team RiMaConn relay race along the East Coast Greenway, presented by Webster Bank. The 95 mile endurance relay event is being planned with safety modifications and sustainability initiatives.

Event to take place at The Country Club of Farmington and will support Wheeler’s Basic Needs Fund.

Nicole Porter of Hartford has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the community foundation for Hartford and 28 surrounding communities. Porter was appointed by Hartford Probate Court Judge Foye A. Smith to replace former director I. Charles Mathews who stepped down after being named director of the City of Hartford’s Department of Development Services.
