Hartford Marathon Foundation Encourages Community To Lace Up for Social Justice this Fall
Hartford Marathon Foundation this week launched the Lace Up for Social Justice campaign, selling shoelaces to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs. https://www.hartfordmarathon.com/lace-up-for-social-justice/The laces will be available at HMF Events, through their Shop and at Eversource Hartford Marathon events in October - participants are encouraged to wear their laces proudly on race day, October 9.

OPEN MIC NIGHT at Playhouse on Park
Come to Playhouse on Park for Open Mic Night on Saturday, August 14th at 10:15pm! The event will take place after the 7pm performance of INTO THE WOODS, the final production of Playhouse on Park’s 12th Main Stage Season. You may see INTO THE WOODS and stay after for Open Mic Night, or just come on over at 10:15pm.VACCINE REQUIREMENT: For Open Mic Night, all participants and audience members are required to be vaccinated and show their vaccination cards when entering the theatre. People will be singing, and it is BYOB; ensuring that everyone is vaccinated will allow us to stay as safe as possible during moments when masks cannot be worn.This event is free and open to the public, and is BYOB. Anyone is welcome to come and sing, or come and enjoy those that do! Tips for the pianist are encouraged. Wheeler’s Foster Care team is collecting new back-to-school supplies for children and youth in foster care. Items will be accepted through August 12, 2021, and may be dropped off at 88 East Street, Plainville, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am to 3 pm.
Hartford to Open Third Emergency Grant Program Providing Nearly $1 million to Hartford Small Businesses
This third round of the Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program follows more than $2 million in grants awarded in summer and winter of 2020. More than 70% of grants in the first two rounds went to minority or women owned small businesses in Hartford. This round will open for applications on Wednesday, August 4th and will support small businesses with flexible funding, allowing them to purchase inventory, help hire more workers, make capital improvements to enhance public health safety, and more.
